Wagaman School launches sister school relationship in Timor Leste

Wagaman School launched a sister school relationship with Maubara School in Timor Leste this week.

East Timor is our nearest neighbour (1hour 10 minutes airflight) and as an Asian nation has much to offer us in intercultural studies.

Timor Leste is a developing nation and our NT Department of Education has aided their education opportunities with the provision of access to technology.

On 9 November the principal, Ms Cody, accompanied the Minister of Education to Timor Leste to launch the sister school project and demonstrate the potential of connecting using the laptops and the internet.

Wagaman and Maubara swapped letters and gifts, and in the future we hope to have the opportunity for staff and students to do exchange visits.
